Feria de Sevilla 2011

La feria de Sevilla es "la fiesta" de Sevilla que ocurre cada año, normalmente abril, excepto este año, que comienza el 2 de mayo.

Historia:
Los orígenes de nuestra Feria de Abril se encuentran en un 25 de agosto de 1846 en que Narciso Bonaplata y José María de Ybarra firmaron una proposición que presentaron al Cabildo Municipal pidiendo autorización para que durante los días 19, 20 y 21 de abril se celebrara una feria anual.

El Cabildo Municipal vio con buenos ojos la iniciativa del vasco y del catalán -curiosamente no fueron andaluces los precursores-, secundada por numerosos ganaderos y agricultores. Así en 1847 se celebra la primera Feria de Abril.

La portada:
La portada de 2011 conmemora la primera circunnavegación a la Tierra. La vuelta a Sevilla en un mundo, será el lema de la portada de Feria de 2011, con la que se pretende conmemorar el quinto centenario de la primera circunnavegación de la Tierra. Quinientos años que se cumplirán en 2019, pero cuya efemérides se quiere dar a conocer ya a la ciudad de Sevilla.

El "alumbrao":Representa el comienzo de la Feria de Sevilla y consiste en que la primera autoridad de la ciudad, nuestro alcalde, Alfredo Sánchez Monteseirín pulsa un botoncito y poco a poco se van encendiendo las 22.000 bombillas de la Portada, cuyo arco central de acceso a la Feria está inspirado en la puerta que da acceso al edificio de la Universidad de Sevilla (antigua Fábrica de Tabacos) por la calle San Fernando. Paulatinamente se va iluminando el Real por completo, encendiéndose la totalidad de las bombillas que hay en el Real de la feria. La Feria se alumbra completamente... y de ahí lo del "alumbrao".

La calle del infierno:
Es el lugar de la Feria de Abril preferido por los más pequeños. En el se encuentran todas las atracciones, los juegos de azar, puestos de restauración etc. Podríamos definirla como un gran parque de atracciones instalado en el Real. Hoy en día ocupa una superficie de 64.000 metros cuadrados.
