Nobility is a Corporation, based in Seville and owner of the Plaza de Toros at which shares its name. Composed of men from ancient noble families held multiple charitable activities and social development of equestrian art and support for bullfighting.
The Plaza de Toros de la Real Maestranza de Sevilla Cavalry was built on the hill called the Marketplace - hence its elevated position and perceptible, for example, from Calle Antonia Díaz. The adjoining buildings form an almost triangular block bounded by three streets: Paseo de Cristóbal Colón, Adriano and Antonio Diaz. The building is square, both externally and internally, shape of an irregular polygon, consisting of 30 different sides, a result of work done over 120 years.
When the square had just erected buildings around it, today is completely flanked by other buildings, except in the area of the main facade, facing the river Guadalquivir
The external appearance of the arena's Marketplace brings us to a late-baroque architecture, with the second half of the eighteenth century, and pointing towards the classic, made with more grace and monumentality in which stands the main entrance, with her body pidras bottom view, with the rest of the walls covered and mostly whitewashed. The main entrance is marked by two towers, each with minor inputs adinteladas-access to the boxes of the Arsenal and authorities, "topped with a curious decoration of concave-convex shapes, scrolls, frames, motifs and what appear to be crowns .
It is noteworthy that the Puerta del Principe is one of a square, as is the Main Gate to the yard crews. In this sense, the Prince would correspond to the Holy Door of the great churches of Christendom. Not in vain the Seville bullring is called the Cathedral of Bullfighting.
The fundamental structure of the bullring is a first ring around the arena, which is constituted by the barrier locations and laying, and under which they are located, on the ground floor and in some areas, small places where there installed some units for storage or public use, a second ring, which comprises the top tier deck, and the floor inside a gallery distribution and access, from one side to the other lines and to all services of the place (corrals, gangs, rendering plant, nursing, etc).
These services are located in a third ring on it are stairs to the grandstand seats located on the deck on the top floor, the third ring is an area which in part encompasses large roofs with parapet and an external gallery gives direct access to the upper floor locations, and other times is occupied by buildings belonging to the headquarters of the Royal Cavalry or are private homes.
In 1980 he expanded the gate of the main facade panels with eleven more to close the corner of the lot at the junction of the Paseo de Colon and Calle Antonia Díaz, and is currently a garden area.
"The square of Seville, for his noble classical architecture, its harmonious proportions, by tradition, is without doubt the most beautiful and evocative of Spanish plazas"
José María de Cossio. Los Toros
